1.5 Billion covid vax doses in September!
The global covid vaccine programme continues to be a success. In September, there was even an acceleration compared to the previous pace (which was ~1 billion per month since May): 1.5 billion doses were given out!1
When a few months ago, I predicted that by the end of 2021 vaccine scarcity would be over as a problem, it seemed optimistic (Nature was still citing experts predicting that dose shortage would last through 2023). Now, it seems trivial: the world as a whole is already close to the point where many countries started to experience reduced uptake due to vaccine hesitancy.
Despite the fact that high-income countries vaccinated more in September than in any previous month:, the rest of the world grew even more, so that the fraction that went to high-income places was only 17%. More doses trumps better redistribution!
At this point, high-income countries have received 21% of all doses (compared to 18% of the population).

Your paper is not a Wikipedia article. I disagree on the comment about the Methods as they should be extensive while also often skippable. I agree with the OP that most readers are not interested in the details of the methods and most readers will not read them. I am in 100% agreement on the uselessness of most of the Discussion sections in papers and I never read them.
