This week, I meant to write something about academic publishing, but lacked the time; so just links, tweets, and photos. I particularly like the photo at the very bottom.
If you happen to be an undegraduate (± 2 years), particularly at a low-and-middle-income country with interest in science, we are looking for remote interns.

I used to take taxis like everyone else, but now, having gotten used to Uber/Didi and similar services, realized how the taxi experience was always slightly stressful as you could never really trust the driver. Now, Liu et al. “find that (1) taxi drivers route longer in distance than matched Uber drivers on metered airport routes by an average of 8%, with nonlocal passengers on airport routes experiencing even longer routing.”
Avibactam is “non-β-lactam β-lactamase inhibitor.” For context, β-lactams are antibiotics, which β-lactamase degrades (leading to antibiotic resistant bacteria). So, β-lactam are the missiles, β-lactamases are anti-missiles, and avibactam is an anti anti-missile missile. Now, will the bacteria evolve a further layer in this war (avibactam-inhibitors)?
